Do you charge a call-out fee?

No call-out fee is charged. You only pay for the work carried out and any parts used. However, for extended travel over a 20mile radius, there may be an additional travel fee.

​Can you open a locked door without damaging it?

Yes, wherever possible I use non-destructive entry techniques to gain access without damaging your locks or doors.
If a lock must be drilled, I’ll advise you first.

Can you help with garages or garden security?

Yes. I can upgrade locks on:

  • Garages

  • Sheds

  • Garden gates

  • Side doors
    These are often targeted because they store valuable tools and equipment.

Are you DBS checked?

Yes. I am fully DBS checked for your peace of mind and can provide documentation upon request.

​What payment methods do you accept?

I accept cash, card, pay by phone and bank transfer.

How often should I change my locks?

It’s recommended to change your locks whenever:

  • You move into a new property

  • Keys are lost or stolen

  • A tenant or employee leaves

  • Locks show signs of wear

  • You’ve had a break-in

On average, locks should be reviewed every 2–3 years or sooner if regularly used.

What are the signs that a lock needs replacing?

Common warning signs include:

  • Difficulty turning the key

  • Key getting stuck

  • Loose handles or cylinders

  • Grinding or scraping sounds

  • Visible wear or damage
    If you notice these, it’s best to get the lock checked before it fails completely.

What’s the best way to maintain my locks?

To keep locks in good working order:

  • Avoid using oil-based lubricants (they attract dust)

  • Use a graphite or PTFE spray lubricant

  • Keep the lock clean and free of debris

  • Don’t force the key if it feels stiff
    Professional servicing is recommended, especially for uPVC door mechanisms.

How can I improve my home security?

Some effective security upgrades include:

  • Installing anti-snap euro cylinders (TS007 3-star)

  • Using BS3621-approved deadlocks

  • Adding hinge bolts and sash jammers

  • Upgrading to high-security handles

  • Installing a security light or CCTV

How can I secure my windows better?

You can improve window security by adding:

  • Window locks

  • Sash jammers

  • Restrictors

Does weather affect my locks?

Extreme cold, heat or moisture can affect:

  • uPVC alignment

  • Metal expansion

  • Mechanism stiffness
    A quick check can prevent failures.
